“Im gonna disappoint you every time. Yeah. Its scary. But I want them to know that Im not going to be able to solve their problems.”
As most of us know, Justin Bieber has been working on turning over a new leaf since the release of his latest album Purpose. Hehas since become more vocal about his faith as well as how he intends to share it on his pop-star platform.
For a while, Bieber admits that he lost sight of what was important and what his life was meant for, but now he says he wants his life to be exemplary of Jesus.
But now Ive found my purpose, he shared. Because I do have a platform, and theres so much I can do for the world and use my music to bring that hope and light.
However, per the recent publicity that his new statements of faith have received, Bieber is now warning people about the dangers of celebrity worship. In an interview with The Mirror, he made it clear to his “Beliebers” that he should not be the object of their praise.
I know they love me, but Im not accepting their love like that, that can be dangerous,” said Bieber.
“I would really suggest to people, Dont put your faith in me,’” he added. “Because Im gonna disappoint you every time. Yeah. Its scary. But I want them to know that Im not going to be able to solve their problems Im not that higher power. Ill never be. Im not perfect. Ive made so many mistakes. ”
As he stated in an earlier interview with Complex: “I just wanna honestly live like Jesus. Not be JesusI could never.”
In spite of a haunting past, Bieber now hopes to become a template that models Jesus’ behavior, while not taking the spotlight as a Savior role. His message echoes Exodus 34:14, which reads, “Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
“I just want people to know humans arent meant to be worshipped,” he shared with The Mirror. “Were just not. So when a human is being worshipped, this is dangerous. Cause it does nothing but give you pride.”
Bieber knows he has a long way to go to live down the bad-boy rap he has built up for himself, and a steady stream of public faux pas since his confession of faith have made that even more challenging. However, that’s why he’s thankful that he’s not relying on himself in this Christian walk.
He elaborated on this in a recent interview with GQ:
“If I was doing this on my own, I would constantly be doing things that are, I mean, I still am doing things that are stupid, but It just gives me some sort of hope and something to grasp onto, and a feeling of security, and a feeling of being wanted, and a feeling of being desired, and I feel like we can only get so much of that from a human.
