Selena Gomez Is Creating A Latina Version Of Empire For Freeform! Get The Deets On The Drama Series!

Selena Gomez continues to grow her empire!

The former Disney darling has teamed up with TV producer Aaron Kaplan to develop a drama series being described as a Latina version of Empire!

Selly will executive produce the untitled drama series, which is set in a low income Latino neighborhood and told through the eyes of an 18-year-old girl destined for greatness!

Airing on Freeform (the network formerly known as ABC Family), the series stems from an idea by Kaplan, who was inspired while attending an event that featured a speech from El Lay teenager Ana Cobarrubias.

POLL: Was Selena Best Dressed At The iHeartRadio Music Awards?

The high school senior — who now serves as a consultant on the project — got a standing ovation for her speech about making a difference in her poor East LA neighborhood, and her determination to become a strong and confident woman despite society’s expectations.

So it sounds like the show will be loosely based on Ana’s story — a teen drama that should definitely pair nicely with the rest of Freeform’s lineup!

We have a feeling Selena won’t be starring in the series, but here’s to hoping she shows up as a guest star at some point.

Are YOU excited for the Latina Empire?
