Haters gonna hate! Oh, sorry. Is that too soon, Jesse Braham?
Last month, the artist sued
The performer wanted $42 million in damages, because he had alleged that the 25-year-old “would not have written Shake It Off had he not written Haters Gone Hate.”
We find that hard to believe, considering the court documents reveal that “haters gonna hate” and “players gonna play” showed up on Google Trends YEARS before his track was even released.
And let’s be real. If ANYONE introduced those phrases to the music world, it was the lovely ladies of 3LW.
So, it didn’t seem like Jesse’s argument really had much support to it, and it looks like the judge agreed! In fact, Judge Gail Standish HIGHlariously referenced Taylor’s lyrics in the case’s conclusion, writing:
“At present, the Court is not saying that Braham can never, ever, ever get his case back in court. But, for now, we have got problems, and the Court is not sure Braham can solve them. As currently drafted, the Complaint has a blank space one that requires Braham to do more than write his name. And, upon consideration of the Court’s explanation in Part II, Braham may discover that mere pleading Band-Aids will not fix the bullet holes in his case. At least for the moment, Defendants have shaken off this lawsuit.”
LOL! YAAAAAAS! Gail might officially be our new favorite judge!
We have a feeling Jesse might still have some Bad Blood with the superstar, but it looks like he’s just going to have to learn to shake it off!
