Everyone thought it was a publicity stunt, until they realized it was terrifyingly real.
During his performance atThe Meadows Festival inNew York City, rapper Kanye West stopped short in the middle of his song. Someone came on stage, whispered into the artist’s ear, then Kanye promptly announced to concertgoers there was a family emergency and the show was over.
At first, no one believed him. They thought it was a stunt for attention, until news broke that halfway around the world, the rapper’s wife, Kim Kardashian West had been held up at gunpoint in her privateroom in Paris.
The French Interior Ministry reported that at around 3AM, five men threatened the concierge with guns, handcuffed him, then forced him to open Kim’s room. Two of the gunmen went inside, held the gun to her temple, tied her hands up with tape, and then locked the social media mogul in the bathroom.
Kim reportedly begged for her life, saying she had children awaiting her at home. The men took two cell phones and jewelry worth over $16 million.
While no one was hurt, a spokesperson says Kim was “badly shaken but physically unharmed.”It’s clear that any husband who hears his wife was held at gunpoint would drop everything to be with her.
Kim was in France to attend Paris Fashion Week but has since left. The incident is stillcurrently underinvestigation.
Police officers believe the culprit may have been a photographer who gained access to Kim by disguising himself as a police officer.
