Madonna denies trying to adopt two more children from Malawi

Reports say the singer, who has two adopted children from the country, appeared in court in Lilongwe with two unidentified children

Madonna has denied reports that she has travelled to Malawi to adopt two more children from the country.

News reports citing a spokesman for a court in the countrys capital, Lilongwe, said the singer had appeared before it to lodge an application for adoption, but Madonna dismissed them as rumours.

Detailed reports in local media described tight security at the court, with Madonna appearing before Justice Fiona Mwale and accompanied by two unidentified children and several other people.

Mlenga Mvula, spokesman for Lilongwe high court, told the Agence France-Presse news agency: The court is looking at the application now to determine whether Madonna can adopt these two children.

Madonna denied she had been seeking an adoption. Speaking via a publicist, she told the Guardian: I am in Malawi to check on the childrens hospital in Blantyre and my other work with Raising Malawi [her charity], and then heading home. The rumours of an adoption process are untrue.

Madonna has adopted two children from Malawi: David Banda in 2006 and Mercy James in 2009. She founded the charity Raising Malawi and is building the first paediatric hospital in the country, which is among the worlds poorest. She was photographed visiting the site, at Queen Elizabeth hospital, last July.

The singer also has two biological children, Lourdes Leon and Rocco Ritchie. Last September she lost a custody battle with her ex-husband, film director Guy Ritchie, over Rocco, 16, that ensured he will remain in the UK.

In December, Madonna raised more than $7.5m (5.9m) for Raising Malawi at a benefit gig and auction at which she grabbed headlines by saying Donald Trump made her ashamed to be an American.

Her adoptions from the country have proved controversial, partly because both children still had living family members. Bandas father said in an interview he had not understood the legal implications of the adoption process, and that he regretted giving up the little boy.

Former president Joyce Banda published a blistering press release in 2013 saying the singer wants Malawi to be forever chained to the obligation of gratitude for adopting children from the country, and excoriating her for expecting the government to roll out a red carpet and blast the 21-gun salute in honour of her visits.

The controversy also led Malawis government to review its laws governing adoption from overseas to make sure they serve the best interests of the children, a Malawian government source told the Guardian.

But Bandas successor, Peter Mutharika, has struck a more conciliatory tone, thanking the star on behalf of his government for the passion Madonna has for this country.

Justin Bieber Randomly Cancelled His Tour And We Think We Know Why

Yesterday, 16-year-old girls everywhere got some upsetting news when Justin Bieber announced hes canceling the rest of his world tour. The 14 canceled dates were in North America and Asia, which means he officially has two continents pissed off at him. This, coupled with the fact that he was literally just banned from Beijing for “bad behavior” means that this summer might even be worse for Justin than all the ones where he was feuding with Selena Gomez on Insta or running around Boston without shoes. Actually, come to think of it, has Justin Bieber ever had like, a summer? Sad. According to Justin’s people (he has “people” not “friends”) the dates were axed due to unforeseen circumstances, so naturally its up to us to brainstorm why Justin did it. Given our extensive research into fuckboys and fuckboy culture, and given that Justin is obviously the king of all fuckboys, we think we’re more than qualified to ~~make shit up~~ make an educated guess as to why the Biebs isn’t continuing his tour. Here’s what we think:

1. Hes Tired

Justins ‘Purpose’ World Tour has lasted 150 dates and has been going strong since March of last year. Like, his tour is way longer than most of our meaningful relationships. Hes been to every continent, and hes probably just fucking tired. We get tired walking from our bed to the fridge, so we can very much relate. Just take a nice long nap, Justin.

2. He Got Cyberbullied

Justin is a sensitive guy, and maybe he got his feelings hurt by something someone said about him online. Like, how is he supposed to do a show in Denver if someone said Colorado hates him on Twitter? Singapore is probably a really tough crowd, so we totally understand.

3. Food Poisoning

Food poisoning is one of the best excuses to get out of basically anything. Even if youre totally fine, just tell everyone you ate some bad sushi, and youll easily get out of your commitments for the next 2-3 months. Japan will understand, they literally eat nothing but sushi.

4. Hes Learning Spanish

Justin was probably embarrassed about not knowing the words to his gigantic summer jam “Despacito”, so he must be learning Spanish before he goes back out on the road. He has to sing like two dozen whole words, so maybe he just doesnt feel confident in his abilities yet. No hay problema, amigo!

5. Some Girl

We dont know who Justin is ~~dating~~ sleeping with right now, but no doubt shes some gorgeous Instagram model with no hint of a personality. Either way, she might have Justin hypnotized into never wanting to leave her. Seriously, Hailey Baldwin isnt that hot.

6. Hes Dead

Justin posted a message about the cancellation on his social media, but theres technically no proof its him. Maybe he died in a freak jet-ski accident and Scooter Braun is just trying to keep it a secret as long as possible? Just give them long enough to create a realistic hologram, then hell be back on tour in no time.

7. Bad Horoscope

Justin seems like the kind of guy who might be really into astrology, so maybe he just didnt like whats in the stars for him this month. Its not like there are millions of dollars on the line here, so its a totally acceptable reason. I mean, when Mercury is in retrograde we basically dont leave our house, so we feel.

8. Mafia Kidnapping

Maybe Justin cant perform because hes been kidnapped by the Russian mafia? If we get a Russian remix of “Despacito” within the next month, well know hes really in trouble.

Um so yeah we basically have no fucking clue. Sorry The Philippines, maybe next time! Justin, get your shit together, the people of Asia need you.

Selena Gomez Reveals ’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 Spoilers And We’re All Ears

Selena Gomez has been quite the Chatty Kathy, and this time, its about 13 Reasons Why.

Earlier this week, she opened up about her love life with The Weeknd without actually mentioninghim by name (girl, you cant fool us because we know exactly who youre talking about).

Love it or hate it, 13 Reasons Why definitely has us hooked. While some believe the show is glorifying acts like bullying and suicide, others claim it is raising awarenessof common issues teens experience.

Now Selena, the executive producer of the show who also featured two songs in season one opened up toSeattle radio station Movin 92.5 about what to expect.

She particularly focused on Hannah and said,

I think for season two we elaborate more on some of those questions and the stories and the resolution, if you will, of what some of these kids have gone through so and are going through.

I was in the writers room the other day, and theyre working so hard, and its going to come together.

I was sitting there at the table, like, Wait, what happened?! Almost like freaking out.

Oh Selena, if freaking out, were like most definitely freaking out even more.

Fear Not, Beliebers Despite His ‘Spiritual Awakening,’ Justin Bieber WILL Make More Music

According to a new report out this morning in TMZ, the Biebs has been reassuring his closest friends that he WILL return to performing soon!

Sources connected to the singer are saying that his faith isn’t going to stop him from being an artist, and he’s still reportedly in and out of studios working on new music even during his spiritual awakening.

He reportedly doesn’t have a date in mind yet for when to return, but he apparently has made it VERY clear to friends that he will return, and relatively soon.

It also sounds like he got burned out a little bit; the poor kid had been touring for nearly two full years at this point when he decided he needed the break, so perhaps when he does return he’ll find a slightly better work/life balance.

Whatever the case, here’s hoping Justin Bieber gets what he needs out of his spiritual awakening and finds himself in a better place personally, professionally, and emotionally very soon! Can’t knock the self-searching!

The former Republican House speaker Newt Gingrich has said Madonna ought to be arrested for telling the crowd at the Womens March on Washington that she had thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.

The singer said on Sunday that she had been speaking metaphorically. I am not a violent person, she wrote on Instagram. I spoke in metaphor and I shared two ways of looking at things – one was to be hopeful, and one was to feel anger and outrage, which I have personally felt.

During an interview on Fox & Friends, Gingrich accused Madonna of changing her tune because she now understands shes at risk, adding that she was part of an emerging leftwing fascism.

Madonnas speech led some television networks to abruptly cut away from their live feeds of the march on Saturday.

She led the crowd in chants of Yes, were ready to take on policies promoted by Donald Trump, who alienated many women during the election campaign with comments about rivals attractiveness and promises to outlaw or diminish abortion rights.

Madonna preceded the chants with coarse words for critics of the march. To our detractors that insist that this march will never add up to anything, fuck you, she said.

As he was leaving church on Wednesday night, July 26, Justin Bieber allegedly hit a photographer with his car, according to TMZ,and the moment was caught on video. The video appears to show Bieber pulling out of his parking spot when he allegedlyran over the foot of a photographer standing nearby. The video shows Bieber getting out of his car to help the photographer.

Elite Daily reached out to Justin Bieber’s team for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.

Yesterday, it wasreported thatBieber canceled hisWorld Tour due to a spiritual awakening.He’s reportedly been very involved with the Hillsong Church and wants to further that involvement while taking a break from music and tour life. A source told TMZ Bieber’s relationship with the founder of the Hillsong Church, Carl Lentz, is intense, butThe church didn’t tell Justin to cancel the tour. He made his decision based on spiritual soul-searching and his own view of the path in life he should be taking.

Bieber was not at the Hillsong Church at the time this video appears to have been taken. He was reportedly at the Saban Theater for a City Church event in Beverly Hills. Ashe was leaving the event, he reportedly got into a large black truck and started to drive slowly out of his parking spot. A photographer standing on the right hand side of the truck seemed to be standing a little too close, and the video appears toshow the truck running over his leg. Fans have been reacting to the video on Twitter.

The driver, who appears to be Bieber,immediately stopped and got out of the car to help the man and ask what happened, according to the video. Other photographers, as well as the injured man, are seen detailing theaccident to Bieber, who looks concerned. The injured man is seen laying on the ground for most of the video, but he does laugh a littlethroughout, so it seems like he should be OK. The rest of the video shows the photographers and Bieber waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

Near the end of the video, after the ambulance arrives, Bieber speaks with the police, although it’s not clear what he’s saying. The injured photographer is then put onto a gurney and put in an ambulance.

Selena Gomez uses an eyelash curler on her tongue in the music video for her new single “Fetish,” but it’s okay it looks really cool despite it looking pretty painful.

The gorgeous video, directed by the impeccable Petra Collins, features a grainy Gucci Mane and finds Gomez staring in the sun, picking fruit, writhing around on a kitchen floor. Oh and she eats soap. And lipstick. But somehow, by the grace of pop music, she still makes it look flawless.

She has yet to announce the title or release date of her new album, but by the looks of it, it’ll be in all our hands very soon.
